Starbucks® Caffe Verona® Coffee and BruCo Italian Chocolate
A medium-bodied blend of Latin American and Indonesian coffees, with 20
percent Italian Roast for added depth and sweetness. Both the acidity of
Latin American coffees and the rich earthy flavor of the Indonesian
coffees are detectable. The Italian Roast contributes a pleasant and
almost cleansing sweetness. Origin, roast, and blend are all on display in
Caffe Verona®. Taste Caffe Verona® with dark chocolate. The sturdy
character of the blend stands up to the intensity of the chocolate.
Together they balance perfectly. It is excellent brewed as a shot of
espresso.
We paired this wonderful coffee with our BruCo Italian Chocolate Bar.
Fabio Lenzo created the Bruco chocolate line from a recipe passed down to
him by his grandmother, Bruna. Bruna was a country doctor in the Marches
region of eastern Italy. Fabio’s grandfather, Constantino, brought his
homemade chocolates to his wife's patients. Constantino's chocolates were
very unique. Instead of containing vanilla extract as was (and still) is
the norm for chocolate, they were infused with the oil of aniseed. In
addition to picking up the spirits of Bruna’s patients, this unusual
chocolate created a following throughout the region due to its subtle
fruitiness and creamy texture.
In tribute to his grandparents, Fabio named his chocolate BruCo. He has
dedicated himself to preserving his grandparents' delicious legacy by
combining their original recipe with the use of the highest quality South
American Trinitario, Forastero and Criollas cacaos (cacao contents as high
as 72%). BruCo has earned attention from chocolate experts throughout
Europe and most recently was voted as the best Artisanal Chocolate in
Italy at the 2002 Eurochoc exposition in Perugia.
A 2% dark chocolate with rum and vanilla, this is a creamy and rich bar,
like a rum chocolate truffle. It is pure luxury "da solo" or with a sip of
Starbucks coffee.
